Durable and Comfortable- Church Chairs

Chairs are the most important piece of furniture that a church owns. Shortage of church chairs can have a worse impact on the attendance of a congregation, as no one would like to keep standing during the entire length of a message or ceremony.

Earlier wooden pews were the regular sitting arrangements that most churches had. Comfort was not a factor that was given any consideration during the purchase of church chairs. However, these days’ churches do take into account the comfort of the parishioners while investing in church chairs. Churches have started ensuring that they buy only good quality comfortable chairs. Besides comfort, durability is another factor that goes into consideration while purchasing church chairs.

However, it is first and foremost very essential to understand what sets church chairs apart from any other kind of chairs. When one is buying chairs for offices, one knows for instance that whoever sits on it will be required to look horizontally at a computer screen. However, while purchasing church chairs one needs to be aware of the fact that the parishioners sitting on these will have to look diagonally upwards at the pulpit for a very long duration of time.

In order to ensure that church chairs are durable and comfortable, both at the same time, a few important factors need to be kept in mind while purchasing them. These are:

· Nature of fabric: church chairs are meant for the purpose of prolonged use. They are thus subjected to a lot of wear and tear. It is thus recommended that church chairs be made out of some durable fabric like polyolefin, which is also easy to clean and does not fade easily.

· Width: different parishioners who visit the church have different sizes and shapes. This factor needs special consideration at the time of the purchase of church chairs.

· Waterfall seat: it is preferable to have church chairs with waterfall seat cushions. These cushions are specifically designed to prevent leg fatigue.

· Recline slope: church chairs should have reclining slope which prevent back ache. This is important because in a church people need in a chair for a very long duration of time looking diagonally upwards at the pulpit.

Also, storage is a major issue for a number of churches that are small and do not have enough space. Folding chairs are the best recommended option for such churches as these can be easily stacked either vertically or horizontally.
As the sitting requirements of different churches have changed, the designs and patterns of church chairs have also changed to adapt to their requirements.
